Be Well Bike Barton County hoasted a Bicycle rodeo on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Central Baptist Church. All particiapants received a free helmet from the Great Bend Pilot Club, an opportunity to register their bikes with the police pepartment, and have minor repairs done by Golden Belt Bicycle Company as well as decorate thier bike spokes. A puppet show on safety was presented by the Pilot Club.

Bikers ride on a course “How Slow Can You Go” which challenged them to keep control of their bikes while riding slow.

Great Bend Pilots fit 64 helmets at the Hoisington Lincoln Summer Start Up on April 29, 2024 from 5:30-7:00 pm.

Helmets for CORE Community

Vicki Richardson and Mary Ann June fit helmets for the children of the people attending the CORE Community Meeting on Thursday, March 8, 2024. 10 children received helmets including one parent. Betty Schneider also helped with the helmets.

Pilots help children select the color of helmets they wanted & fit the size appropriate for the child at the Clara Barton Event in Hoisington.

2nd Annual Devin’s Ride to promote Suicide prevention Awareness - Sept. 24,2022

Riders of all ages rode bicycles, motorcycles, & golf carts. Great Bend Pilots were on hand to fit helmets for people who needed one. Rev. Kathie Luke (new Pilot member) said a prayer prior to the start of the ride.

 

Vicki Richardson accepts a $200.00 check from Kate Wary, representative of the Fair Board to purchase additional helmets.

Great Bend Pilot Club is known as the Helmet People due to their involvement in community activities and the school perfect attendance project. They donate and fit a helmet to any child or adult who needs one.

Approximately 40% of all bicycle-related deaths is due to head injuries. 3/4 of all bicycle-related injuries occur among children ages 14 & under. Pilot donates quality helmets in a variety of colors and sizes at various Barton County event.
