The Christmas tree is located at Serenity Way House for women in Great Bend. The presents under the tree were purchased with money provided by the Pilot Club and some presents were individually purchased by some Pilot members for children whose mother’s reside in the House. Presents were also purchased for the children of the men who reside in the Oxford House.
Oxford House is a democratically self-run, self-supported recovery house for adults recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. The House is a publicly supported non-profit 501(c)3. The number of residents ranges from 6-15 occupants. These houses are for men, women and women with children. Each house represents a remarkably effective and low cost method of preventing drug and alcohol relapse. The first House was established in 1975 and there are over 2,000 houses in the US today. Great Bend has one for women and teo for men.
